Honest comparison

ADA Service Dog vs USA Service Dogs

Both are voluntary registries. Neither is required by law. Neither grants your dog any rights, because the ADA already did that. Here is how the two products actually differ, with prices checked in June 2026.

We are a competitor of USA Service Dogs, so treat this page the way you would treat any vendor's comparison: as a starting point, not a verdict. All prices and package details below were checked on their public shop pages (usaservicedogs.org) in June 2026 and may have changed since. Please verify current prices on their site before deciding. "USA Service Dogs" is a name belonging to its owner (Ray Curtis LLC per their site footer); we mention it only to compare products. Neither company is affiliated with the ADA, the Department of Justice, or any government agency.

Side by side, as of June 2026

What matters ADA Service Dog USA Service Dogs (per their shop, June 2026)
Entry price $4.99/mo or $39/yr (Digital Plus). Cancel anytime. Instant Kit, $49 one time (shown against a struck-through $55).
Full lineup $4.99/mo, $9.99/mo Pro, $99 Lifetime Digital, $229 Lifetime + Physical Kit. No strike-through pricing, ever. Instant $49 ($55), Standard $69 ($109), Full $99 ($164), Deluxe $149 ($229, "Save 35%"), Ultimate $199 ($279). Every kit shows a struck-through higher price.
What ships Digital tiers ship nothing by design. The $229 tier ships a printed PVC card kit from the team that ships 20,000+ cards a year on Amazon. Deluxe ($149) ships two PVC ID cards, two sleeves, a registration document, a reflective vest, a leash, and a tag, plus digital card copies by email within about 30 minutes.
Verification method Live 60-second expiring signed URL with per-scan watermark and capture logging. A screenshot proves nothing because the page dies in a minute. Lifetime registration number searchable in their ID lookup database; the lookup result stays valid indefinitely.
Renewal / expiry Subscriptions renew until you cancel. Lifetime tiers never renew. "Good for the lifetime of your dog and never has to be renewed."
Honesty about legal status Stated in the hero of every page: voluntary tool, not required, grants nothing. Their product page does state cards "are not required by the ADA and are not associated with a government database," to their credit. The disclosure sits in the product description, not the headline.
Refund policy If your card never arrives or is not what we promised, we refund it. No gauntlet. 30-day money-back guarantee; all items must be shipped back before the refund is processed. Free size exchanges on vests and collars within 30 days.
After the purchase AI ADA Coach, 50-state rules lookup, live verification, member dashboard. Digital card on your phone, database lookup, accessory shop, info center articles.

Four real differences, in plain English

1. A lookup database is not verification. Ours expires in 60 seconds.

USA Service Dogs gives every dog a lifetime registration number you can search in their database. The problem: that lookup page looks the same whether the person holding the phone is the real handler or someone reusing a screenshot from last year. Our verification issues a signed URL that expires after 60 seconds, watermarks every scan, and logs capture attempts. The person scanning knows the result is live. That difference is the core of our product.

2. Our price is the price. Theirs comes with a permanent discount badge.

As of June 2026, all five kits on their shop page display a struck-through higher price next to the selling price, including the Deluxe kit at $149 "down from" $229. We are not accusing anyone of anything; we are saying you should evaluate $149 as $149, not as a bargain against a number you were never going to pay. Our pricing has no strike-throughs and no countdown timers. $4.99 a month is $4.99 a month.

3. You can start for $4.99 instead of $49.

Their cheapest product is a $49 one-time kit. Ours is a $4.99 monthly toolkit you can cancel: digital card on your phone, live verification, the AI ADA Coach, and the 50-state rules lookup. If it does not earn its keep, cancel and you have spent five dollars. You only pay kit money ($229, lifetime, no renewal) when you actually want the physical kit.

4. We sell ongoing answers, not just gear.

A vest and two cards are useful, but most handler stress is situational: what can a landlord ask in Texas, can a hotel charge a pet fee, what do you say at a restaurant door. Our subscription exists because those questions keep coming. The AI ADA Coach and the state rules engine answer them on the spot, which is something a box of accessories cannot do, however good the stitching.

Where USA Service Dogs is genuinely better

A comparison page that finds no merit in the other side is an ad. So, honestly:

Speed of fulfillment

They advertise digital ID copies by email within about 30 minutes, same-day processing, and overnight shipping options. That is genuinely fast for physical goods, and if you need a full kit in hand this week, it is a real advantage.

Gear value in one box

The $149 Deluxe kit packs two cards, a vest, a leash, a tag, and sleeves into one order. If your goal is maximum equipment for one payment, their box beats our $229 kit on sheer item count.

Free size exchanges

Their return policy includes free exchanges within 30 days when a vest or collar does not fit, with no shipping or restocking fee in that window. That is a customer-friendly policy for gear, and worth crediting.

Years in the US market

Their site footer dates the business to 2015 and they carry a large Trustpilot review base (about 1,465 reviews with a five-star average as of June 2026, though third-party scores elsewhere are mixed). We launched our US site in 2026. On domestic longevity, they win.

Three questions people actually ask

Is registering with USA Service Dogs, with us, or with anyone required by law? +
No. The ADA requires no registration, ID, vest, or paperwork, and businesses cannot demand any of it. Every registry, including this one, is a voluntary convenience tool. Their product pages acknowledge this and we state it everywhere. Read the federal baseline on our ADA rights page, free, no signup.
What is actually different about your verification? +
Their card points to a database lookup that stays valid forever, which means a screenshot works as well as the real thing. Our card opens a signed page that expires after 60 seconds, watermarks the scan, and logs capture attempts. Nobody can reuse yesterday's screenshot of our verification, because yesterday's verification no longer exists.
Do the struck-through prices mean I am getting a deal? +
Judge any kit by what is in the box at the price you will actually pay. As of June 2026, every kit on their shop page shows a struck-through higher price, so the "discount" is the normal state of the store. That is a common e-commerce pattern, not unique to them, but it is worth knowing before the 35% badge does your math for you. And as always: verify current prices on their site yourself.

Still deciding? Good.
