# ADA Service Dog

> ADA Service Dog provides voluntary US service dog identification cards, digital handler profiles, and plain-English guidance on the rights of service dog handlers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are operated by NS Design ID Cards and have supported assistance dog handlers since 2020. We are NOT affiliated with the ADA, the Department of Justice, or any US government agency, and we say so on every page.

## Core principle

Under the ADA, what makes a dog a service dog is training to perform a task for a person with a disability. No certification, registration, ID card, or vest is legally required. Any identification we sell is a voluntary convenience, never a legal requirement.
